The Journey
Each person is unique and, therefore, I adapt my approach to every individual’s needs. My approach is collaborative, believing that each individual is the expert of their own lives and brings many strengths into the therapeutic process. To embark down the path of therapy already means a big first step has been taken because seeking help is not always easy. It takes a lot of courage to break with patterns that no longer serve us well. I offer my clients a safe space of empathy, confidentiality and respect.
What is Art Therapy?
Art Therapy combines the creative process and psychotherapy, facilitating self-exploration and understanding. While using imagery, colour and shape as part of this creative therapeutic process, thoughts and feelings can be expressed that would otherwise be difficult to articulate. Working with metaphor and symbols, clients can uncover answers to questions lingering, and healing to wounds left unattended. Connecting with the art and the self, we will walk a path of healing and transformation together. What is Trauma-Informed Relational Art Therapy? It is a model of art therapy rooted in neuroscience that activates integrated changes within the brain and bodily systems contributing to a sense of hope, flexibility, stability and overall wellbeing.
Counselling
Counselling involves talking to someone who is trained to help you deal with your feelings. Counselling allows individuals an opportunity to explore their thoughts and feelings and the effect they have on their behaviour and mood. Describing what is going on in your head and your heart and how that makes and has made you feel can help you find a place of calm, peace, and healing.
Who are my clients?
I work with a wide range of clients, from youth to late adulthood. People who have experienced trauma, those who are holding and living with grief and loss, addiction recovery, anxiety, and depression are some of my areas of expertise and clinical experience. I strive for inclusiveness and cultural sensitivity in my practice. As a trauma-informed relational art therapist / counsellor I also incorporate a mindfulness approach to my work with clients.
